Big Bang Unico’s First Colored Sapphire Case Watch

Last year, the Hublot Big Bang Unico sapphire watch launched the sapphire revolution, using hard sapphire and fully transparent sapphire on the case. And this year, in less than a year, the Hublot watch factory in Nyon has once again created a new watchmaking miracle.

 Although synthetic sapphire technology has been born in 1902, it is complicated in technology, especially it is very difficult to make large size pure sapphire. Hublot watches by heating the alumina and chromium (or iron) at the same time to crystallize it into a perfectly colored sapphire case, thus launching the world’s first blue (red) transparent sapphire case watch.

 The red model (model: 411.JR.4901.RT) has a case size of 45 mm and is made of polished red sapphire. The gemstone has a Mohs hardness of 9 and stands out in the daily wear-resistant performance. The dial also uses a resin hollow dial to match the case. It is equipped with HUB1242 UNICO self-winding flyback chronograph movement developed by Hublot.

 The raw material aluminum oxide and the transition metal chromium are heated to 2000 to 2050 degrees Celsius, and then crystallized into a perfect colored sapphire, while retaining all the original characteristics of the sapphire material, including ultra-wear-resistant high hardness and complete transparency. This technology of Hublot created the colorful color of sapphire, and it is also the first colored sapphire watch in the history of watchmaking.

 The crown and timing buttons are made of black ceramic and black titanium.

 The sandwich structure of the case is divided into bezels, and the upper, middle and lower parts of the case are convenient for replacement after damage.

 Resin skeleton dial, the color of the outer edge of the dial, hour markers, Arabic numerals, hour / minute hands and sapphire echo each other. The 3 o’clock position is a small seconds dial and date display window, and the 9 o’clock position is a chronograph minute dial. Although the hollow-out dial is used, the color embellishment makes the reading at a glance.

 HUB1242 UNICO self-winding flyback chronograph movement, the subtleties are clearly visible through the case. The vibration frequency is 28800 times / hour, and the power reserve is up to 72 hours. This watch is limited to 250 pieces.

Summary: This watch is more significant than its watch itself. It is the first watch in the history of the watch to use a colored sapphire case. In addition to its beautiful appearance, it also perfectly interprets the Hublot fusion concept. The sapphire case can also avoid the traces caused by thorium in daily wear. The limit of 250 pieces also motivated some consumers to chase things that are expensive.
